Movie Night

Ok, I have to admit I am a Twilight fan. Last night my husband and I met some of our friends at the theater to watch the latest saga of the Twilight series.I had really been looking forward to the movie. After seeing the movie I am kind of wondering what all the hype was about. I think that is was my least favorite of the series. Our husbands were party poopers and sat and laughed through most of the movie. I do have to admit that there were some really silly parts to the movie and parts of it could have probably been done better. But there were some sweet parts to the movie. I am not sure though that it lived up to what I had expected out of the movie. However, I did like the movie and it was fun to be able to hang out with my husband and our friends. And it was nice that our husbands let us pick the movie this time.

Reflections on Giving Thanks

Over the last few weeks, I challanged myself to find something that I was thankful for everyday until Thanksgiving. I really believe this challange gave me a chance to pause for a moment and reflect on those things in my life that I am truly grateful for. We spend so many hours of the day complaining and wishing things were different and I wanted to give thanks rather than voice my unhappiness about what I don't have. I found that through this challange it gave me a greater appreciation for my family and friends. I was reminded of how blessed I am that I have a job, have a roof over my head, and food on the table. It also caused me to have more of a love and appreciation for my Heavenly Father. I hope that now rather than complaining about what I don't have I will be grateful for the many blessings that are in my life.

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!

Day 23

Today I am thankful for the small things in life. Sometimes it is the small things that make me the most happy and content. I always enjoy a nice warm cup of hot chocolate on a cold winters day. Or sometimes it is the unexpected bouquet of flowers I get from my husband for no reason what-so-ever. Or it might even be a note from a friend that brightens my day. I have come to realize though that I should enjoy these things more and savor each moment in the day even if it is a small one.

Day 22

Today I am thankful for answered prayers. After a year of struggling with a particular issue God answered our prayers. So, today I am thankful that God still hears our prayers and does answer them. The answer might not come when we expect it. But if we are patient He will answer.

Day 11

Today I am thankful for our military men and women who have so bravely fought for our freedom. Today on Veterans Day I remember those who lost their lives fighting for what they believe in. They paid the ultimate sacrifice. I am also thankful for my husband who gave 12 years of his life to serving as an Army Ranger and Special Forces. You are my hero!

Day 10

Today I am thankful for acts of kindness. I am especially grateful when it comes from unexpected sources at unexpected times. And it is often the small things that mean the most. Today at one of my co-workers showed a random act of kindness toward me. It was something so simple that to some might not mean much. But to me it spoke volumes. I think the thing that meant the most is that I would have never expected this person to do this. It really touched me. This small act inspired me to do more and to show kindness when least expected.

Thankfullness Project

Everyday from now until Thanksgiving I am challenging myself to find something that I am thankful for. I hope through this project it will cause me to remember those things in life that I am blessed with and to be thankful for even the small things in life.

Since I missed yesterday I am posting two things that I am thankful for today. First I am thankful for my wonderful loving husband. My life is so much richer with him in it. I am thankful that God brought us together and that we continue to fall more and more in love with each day that we spend together.

The second thing I am thankful for is my job. I know that there are days when I complain about my job and that I wished I had a different one. Instead I should be grateful that I have been blessed with the job that I have. There are many people right now that do not even have a job. So I am thankful that God has allowed me to continue to work. My challenge for myself is to remember how blessed I am and to be more grateful for what I have been given.

My Life Verse

One of my all time favorite verses is from Ephesians 3:13-21. I have always loved these verses and have made it the prayer for my life as well as my family.

"For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,  may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—  to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen."
To try and comprehend this verse with my mind is so incomprehensible. It is hard for me to imagine how wide or how deep Christ's love for me is. I long to know this love and the depth of the love that Christ has for me. I know that I have just barely begun to tap into the knowledge of what this love means. I long for deeper knowledge so that I might know just how much my Savior loves me.
Lord, strengthen my inner man. Root me and ground me in your love that I may be able to comprehend the width, length, depth, and height of your love. Lord, I ask that you dwell in my heart and the hearts of my family. And that we will all know the depth of the love that you have for us.

Happy Birthday to my man

Today is my wonderful husband's birthday. I am so greatful to have him in my life. He is such a wondeful caring person. He does not show this side to everyone though. He truly is a wonderful husband and I could not ask for anything more. I love everything that he does for me and the love that he shows for me daily. He is a great man and at times I wonder what I have done to deserve someone like him. God must have known what he was doing when he put the two of us together. I love you so much babe! Happy Birthday!
