He Watches Me

Why Should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heav'n and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant Friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches me.

I sing because I'm happy, I sing because I'm free,
For His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches me.

"Let not your heart be troubled," His tender word I hear,
And resting in His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Sometimes and Always

Hello Everyone! Today I am linking up again with Megan for Sometimes and Always. Go check out her link up.

Sometimes, it is so hard to resist eating girl scout cookies.
Always, I cave in and eat one, or two, or three.

 Sometimes, I wish I lived somewhere that was warm all year round.
Always, I remember how much I love living in a place where I get to experience all four seasons.

Sometimes, I love to ride around with my sun roof open.
Always, I love it when it is nice enough outside to open it.

Sometimes, I love dressing up for work.
Always, I can't wait to get home and put my sweats on.

Friday's Letters

Photobucket

Today I am linking up with Ashley for Friday's Letters. Go check out her link up!

Dear Husband, I am so glad it is finally the weekend. That has been a tough week and I am so glad it is over. It will be nice to be able to rest and relax. Dear IRS, hurry up and send me my tax refund. I am waiting patiently for you to deposit the money in my bank. Dear Reagan and Darby, you have both been such sweet kitties this week. Perhaps you both deserve a cat treat when I get home today. Dear Husband, thank you for putting up with me this week. You are such a good man and I love you more and more each day.

Happy weekend everyone!

Finding Inspiration Again

Lately I have been feeling a little uninspired. I haven’t felt much like writing. Then the other day I ran across a video (the one above) that reignited that passion within me. I soon realized that there has been an absence in my life lately….music. And I mean good music, the kind of music that stirs your soul and touches that place in your heart that nothing else can.
I used to love to play the piano and just sit for hours and get lost in the music. But with the busyness of life I laid down that love for music and never picked it back up. After seeing this video it reminded me of the love that I have for music and the inspiration that I find in it.
 I often find my greatest inspiration after hearing a song that touches my soul or in being surrounded by God’s beautiful creation. One of my favorite places to go when I am feeling overwhelmed with life is the mountains. When I am surrounded with such beauty something about it brings healing and life back to my soul.  Sometimes a trip to the mountains is exactly what I need to find my inspiration again. Sometimes all I need is to be quiet so that I can feel and hear the music.

Where do you find inspiration?

Sometimes and Always

Hello friends,
Happy Tuesday! Today I am linking up with Megan for Sometimes and Always.

Sometimes I have the best intentions of waking up early and getting out the door on time.
Always it just never seems to happen.

Sometimes I really try to eat more healthy.
Always I cave in and eat the junk food.

Sometimes it is easy to get caught up in every day life and unintentionally neglect those relationships that are most important to you.
Always I am so grateful for the wonderful husband I have been blessed with.

Sometimes I think I would have enjoyed living in the mountains during the pioneer days and enjoy living in the beauty that surrounded me every day.
Always I am thankful for all the modern conviences and can't imagine life without them.

Sometimes I wish was more out going and not so quiet.
Always glad that God made me just the way that I am!

Dear Husband, thank you for making Valentine's a truly wonderful day. I loved that you set up reservations for me at my favorite restaurant and kept it a secret until the night before. You are so awesome! Also I am very sorry that you are feeling under the weather. I hope you get to feeling better soon. Love you!!

Dear Starbucks, thank you for the yummy cup of coffee this morning. It was much needed after not getting a good nights rest. Because of you I think I will be able to make it though the day.

A Day of Relaxation

Recently I had a much needed escape to the mountains. It was exactly what I was needing. It was so nice to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and take a few moments to enjoy the peace and quiet of the mountains. I have included a few of my favorite photos from my day.

I put more photos here. Check them out.

My Favorite Place On Earth

Today's post is dedicated to one of my most favorite places on earth. Mozambique.

A few years ago I experienced one of the most life change experiences of my life time. I had the opportunity to visit an orphanage in Maputo, Mozambique. The orphanage is ran by Heidi and Rolland Baker. The Baker's moved to Mozambique several years ago when they saw a need and wanted to play a part in helping to meet it.

Mozambique is a country that for many years was plagued by civil war. The war left the country desitute. Mozambique is now one of the poorest countries in the world. The war left many children without parents and many wound up on the streets without a home and without food for their bellies. The Baker's saw this need and moved to Mozambique to help provide shelter, food, and a safe place for these children.

I was in Mozambique for about two months.Those two months were the best and the hardest months of my life. I learned so much about myself while I was there. Like many westerners I went with the intentions of ministering to the childern and sharing my love with them. To my surprise they touched my life as much as I touched theirs. It touched me to see their faces light up when they saw a new visitor coming to their home. It touched me when they would run to me and want to give me a hug. It touched me when a small child crawled up in my lap and sat there for hours enjoying being held by another human being. Many of these children just want to feel love and to feel the touch of another human. And in return they want to give you their love as they embrace you back. The people of Mozambique will forever have a special place in my heart. I will never forget them or my time there as long as I live.

My trip to Africa opened my eyes and allowed me to see how truly blessed we are. We do not know how blessed we are until we see those who have nothing. And it is not until we come face to face with this reality that we become truly grateful for those things that we have been blessed with in our life. My trip gave me a new perspective on life. Those things that I thought were important, just aren't that important anymore. My trip taught me to enjoy the small things in life and not to fret over the big things.

Here a just a few images of the precious children of Mozambique.

May the Force Be With You

Saturday we had the opportunity to go with our friends downtown to watch the local hockey team. From time to time there will be a special event at the game. Saturday night happened to be Star Wars night. The  501st Legion’s Midsouth Garrison was part of the event. We had so much fun taking photos and seeing people dressed up. Even though our team lost it was so much fun getting to hang out with our friends and spending a night out on the town. Here are some photos from the evening.

Friday's Letters

Today I am linking up with Ashley at Adventures of Newlyweds for Friday's Letters.

Dear Husband, I hate that you are working this weekend. I will miss you terribly while you are at work. However, I am really excited about date night tonight. I can't wait to have you all to myself tonight! Dear Reagan and Darby, please stop kicking the littler out of your litter box. It is rather annoying and you two are making a mess! Dear People in my office, today you all have been extra loud. It would be nice if you would use your inside voices. There are others that work here. Dear Mountains, if the weather stays nice I will come visit you sometime this weekend. I am really needing a break from the hum drum of everyday life. I need to escape to you peace and solitude.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Random Things I Hear at The Office

From time to time I hear some pretty interesting things in the office. The other day some of the people in my office started singing a song. They started singing the Red Solo Cup song. I had never heard the song before and, it cracked me up. If you have never heard the song check out the video below.
