Letters To My Husband

us11

Dear Robert,

Everyday I am grateful to have you in my life. I love that you are not only the love of my life, but that you are also my best friend. I love it that we can have fun and act goofy together. You have always been there for me when I needed you most. Thank you for letting me cry on your shoulder when I have needed to. Thank you for always putting up with me when I am difficult to live with. Most of all thank you for loving me and letting me love you.

I love you so much!

Heart Broken

pray

via

Today my heart is hurting. I hurt because I feel torn between my convictions and the views and beliefs of those who are dearest to my heart. I hurt because I know if I do not take their side they will feel betrayed and that I do not support them. Why must I be forced to chose between my convictions and not hurting someone because of what they believe. Why must families be torn apart because of differing views? Why do we have to take sides? Why can’t we just put aside our differences and love each other the way that God loves us. If I do not take their side or support them will they pull even further away from me than they already are.

When did just simply loving someone and accepting them suddenly not be enough? At what point did crusading for someone else's beliefs become more important than the love and respect that I hold for them? Is loving them not enough anymore? Is this the way Jesus felt when He offered His love  so freely, but chose to stick to His convictions and went against the popular ideas and beliefs of the time, and because of this was cast aside. Did His heart break too when the simple act of loving someone was not enough?

Why God must our family be torn apart? Please God bring healing and wholeness to us? Help us to put aside our difference and be the family that those who have gone before us established. Help us to remember that our family was founded on love, not hate and taking sides. Help us to remember the two people that started this big beautiful family and to remember what they stood for. They stood for peace, love, respect, and acceptance. They would take anyone into their home and love them and accept them no matter who they were. But we have turned our back on the foundation that this family was built on and have chosen to take sides. We have drawn a line in the sand. And this breaks my heart. Many years ago two people chose to follow their hearts and began a family founded on love. Their union was not just founded on earthly love but also the love of Christ. And since their departure from this world we have taken that love that this family was built on and used it for hate rather than acceptance. God help us to return to the foundations of what this family was built on. Heal our family God.

Campus Happenings

There is never a dull moment working at a college. Over the years I have heard and seen some pretty wild things. So I thought why not share my stories with others. I would like to start regularly posting about college life and some if the unbelievable things that students say and do.

Today’s post is dedicated to things that students ask with they call into the main number at the college. I hope you get as much of a kick out of these that I did.

1) “Can my mom come and get my student photo ID for me?”

2) Student calls sounding drunk or on drugs and wants to know if we can come and pick him up for class.

3) I need to know exactly now much financial aid money I’m getting. I am trying to plan a wedding.

4) Student: “When is Fall Break?”…..college employee: “Monday and Tuesday October 15-16.” ……student: “Well, I only have class on Thursday and Friday. Does that mean that I don’t get a Fall Break?”……college employee: “That is correct.”

5) Student: “Kelly called me. Can I talk to her?”…..college employee: “Kelly who?”…..student: “Uh I don’t know. She wears glasses.”

6) On August 23 a student calls and says, “I am here for my 2:30 class and there is no one here.” …..college employee: “Classes do not start until the 25th.”

7) “Can I bring a picture of my son with Chicken Pox to prove he had it?”

8) “I need to sign up for school to make some money because my baby’s daddy go deported when I was 5 months pregnant with our second baby.”

Yes, these are all things that students actually called and asked. It is never a dull moment on a college campus.

Monday Morning Blues

cofe

It’s Monday….Arrrrgggghhhh!!!!!!!!!! I started out my morning hitting the snooze button about 5 times. My body just did not want to get out of bed this morning. When I looked out the window I saw it was snowing and thought to myself….”what the heck???” Where is spring? I thought winter was over. Then when I was leaving the house this morning to go to work I had to scrape ice and snow off my car. Not a great way to start my day. Then on top of that I forgot my car was on empty and I knew I did not have enough gas to make it to work. Not fun pumping gas in the cold and snow. Can I just go back to bed?

I Choose To…..

imagesCAFQOZXO

I choose to get out of bed each morning ready to face a new day.

I choose to be grateful for the things that I have been blessed with and not dwell on what I do not have.

I choose to live each day to the fullest.

I choose to love the Lord my God with all my heart.

I choose to press on no matter how hard things get.

I choose to keep my eye on the prize and not quit.

I choose to love my husband and support him through all of life’s ups and downs.

I choose to work on becoming a better wife and be the woman God created me to be.

I choose to embrace life.

I will consciously choose to make a difference in the world around me and those lives my hands may touch.

A Day On The Trail

Recently my husband and I took a day and hiked the trail to Bruce Creek Falls in TN. One of the best things about this trail is that there were not a lot of people hiking that day. The hike to the falls is about 0.3 miles. So it is not a long hike at all. The trail was pretty easy to the waterfall. The waterfall was very pretty and there were lots of opportunities for great photo opportunities. The waterfall has four tiers; the lowest is a 5-10 foot drop shaped like a punchbowl, above which is a 15-20 food plunge. If you precede upstream you will see a pair of larger punchbowls, one 10-15 feet high and the other 15-20 foot drop.

If you chose you can keep hiking past the waterfall to what is called The Devil's Race Track. The hike to the top of the ridge line is tough, but the views from the top are amazing. Below are pictures from the top.

Have You Ever....

Have you ever....

Been driving down the road and forget where you are going.

Been tickled by your husband to so much that you end up farting on his head.

Walked into a room and forgot why you went in there in the first place.

Peed on yourself because you could not get to the bathroom in time.

Had someone mistake your car with theirs and try to unlock your car with the keys to their car.

Forgotten the pin number for your ATM card.

Locked yourself out of your car and your brother-in-law had to bring you the spare keys to work.

Ended up losing your balance and falling while trying to use the bathroom while you are out hiking in the woods.

Some of the above events may or may not have really happened to me. If they have I will never tell.

blogger crush

Today I am doing a fun little link-up with one of my favorite bloggers, Erin. So first of all I will say that Erin is one of my absolute favorites. I am always entertained by her posts and I just love her to death.

Another one of my favorites is Megan. I just love her. She is the sweetest and has the cutest new little baby girl. I am always inspired by her posts and faith in God. She is just adorable.

And to wrap it up my last crush is miss Ashley. I always enjoy reading her posts. She has an amazing talent for photography. If there was one blogger out there that I would want to meet in real life it would be Ashley.

Staying Positive

IMG_0344

Staying positive is at times a lot easier said than done. When you have negative thoughts bombarding your mind it can be hard to remain positive and keep the faith. I know for myself when I am constantly bombarded by negative thoughts it is hard for me to trust and believe that God is in control. I find that the only way to make it through these difficult times is to return to the feet of my Savior and lay it all down at His feet in surrender. When we give our worries and cares to Him in surrender, He will gladly take them from us and fill us with his peace and love that is beyond our understanding. He is waiting for us to come to Him and lay it all at his feet.

I was reminded of this song today. Every time I hear this song I am reminded of the love God has for us.

Motivation

Amen to that! I found this on a website called Female Health Motivation and just love it. So many times we come up with excuses of why we are not exercising or eating right or whatever it is that we keep putting off. I know for myself a lot of times I will say, "I will do it tomorrow". Or "I will start that exercise program on Monday since it is the beginning of the week". Or we might not go on that walk because it is too cold outside or that it is raining. If we truly want to change we need to start now. We need to stop with the excuses and just do it! I am guilty of this myself. Too many times I make excuses for not following through with things. It seems I always have a good reason for putting something off one more day.

But I have decided today is a new day! No more excuses! I will follow through. And I will accomplish my goals.
